I've spent more than 15 years leading small businesses. The hardest and most valuable lesson was learning to step back.
I helped turn a family-run business into an established enterprise. That meant learning to delegate, hire the right people and build a leadership team strong enough that the owner could stop putting out fires and focus on long-term growth.
Now I use that experience two ways. I build new service companies through Socket Wrench. I also mentor entrepreneurs who are where I was: capable and busy, but stuck working in the business instead of on it.
